Inspired by my Alma Mater to Nurture Future Leaders
Visiting the University of Auckland decades after graduation and reflecting on my leadership coaching journey.
Back to where my coaching journey began!
How lovely to visit The University of Auckland again, decades after graduation.
Some asked me why I chose to study in New Zealand even though it was more common and popular to study in Australia. Moreover, Australia’s cost of living was lower in the time when I was attending uni.
Honestly, it was for a very practical reason - the exchange rate in New Zealand at the time was lower than that of Australia. Could the chicken rice be indeed more costly despite the lower exchange rate? Hmm, I will leave this question to the economists!
But what is in fact more important to me now is that the University has instilled in me the resilience and confidence to move into unchartered territories, and the many invaluable lifelong friendships built.
It’s now for me to renew my commitment to nurturing future leaders through mentorship, coaching, and active involvement in shaping young minds, just as how my Alma Mater relentlessly nourishes and inspires successive waves of students with its rich heritage and dynamic ethos.
