A Simple Convo that Made a Real Impact

The answers to some dilemmas are better off answered through a structured introspection.

My friend’s version of a Cost-Benefit Analysis

A friend left her full-time job to pursue entrepreneurship. Months later, she was invited by her ex-boss to return for a role, supposedly a higher position, obviously a better package. This offer immediately got her into a dilemma, as the discomfort posed by the transition from a full time salaried employee to an entrepreneur mounted. ‘To give up or not to give up’ became a struggle.

We happened to chat, and she brought the struggle to the table, seeking my view on it. I prompted her to spend some time talking with herself instead of seeking my view or others’. I suggested some pointers for her introspection. She cleverly did what she termed “her version of a Cost-Benefit Analysis (CBA)” based on my pointers, and eventually decided to bite the bullet and cling on to the new entrepreneurial journey she has started. Most importantly – she was dead sure that this IS her final decision. Not a blind impulse. I heard that conviction in her voice.

After she shared her ‘CBA’ with me, I cheekily challenged her to check in with her heart for alignment with the logical decision, and if there was peace in this outcome. There was. For that reason, I have faith that there will be traction and resonance, and she will stick to the decision.

But the impact of her CBA didn’t end there.

My sense of fulfilment is beyond what I can describe. A simple convo, a friend and a concern of hers, a few pointers,  - which eventually multiplied to benefit many who shared the same needs of my friend. I am thankful for the opportunity to create a little impact on many individuals directly and indirectly, that ripple effect of positive influence bit by bit, one by one, starting with my friend.

How entrepreneurial are you? Are you comfortable navigating uncertainty? Can you explore ambiguity with curiosity?
